King's Men's Basketball Opens Freedom Conference Play Against Delaware Valley; Andrejko Coaching 300th Game


Wilkes-Barre, Pa.—Head coach J.P. Andrejko will coach his 300th career game as the Monarchs open their conference slate on Wednesday when they host Delaware Valley at 8:00 p.m. at Scandlon Gymnasium.

King's enters the league opener with a 2-2 overall record after falling 67-56 to Muhlenberg on Monday night. The Monarchs opened the season with a win in the Susquehanna Tip-Off Tournament and a loss to Albright in the home opener.

The Aggies also bring a 2-2 record defeating Penn State-Lehigh Valley 109-67 the last time out. Delaware Valley had dropped back to back games against Wesley and Alvernia.

Sophomore combo player Tim O'Shea has paced the Monarch offense with 10.5 points. O'Shea has added 3.0 rebounds and has also dished out six assists. Fellow sophomore Keyton Winder has added 9.0 points and grabbing a team-high 5.8 boards per contest. Junior guard Kyle Hammonds also averages 9.0 points to go with 2.5 rebounds.

Senior guard Matt Fiorino has made the move to point guard and is averaging 8.3 points per game and has shot 8-of-25 from 3-point range. Sophomore Mike Foster and Tom Heston have each posted 6.0 points per contest.

Delaware Valley has been led by a pair of seniors in Jeremy Beckett and Daulton Derr. Beckett leads the team with 20.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest. Derr has chipped in 13.0 points per game and 3.5 boards per contest. Zach Sly has added 9.0 points per game.

Following the matchup with Delaware Valley the Monarchs travel to FDU-Florham for a Freedom Conference showdown with the Devils.
