King's Men's Cagers Fall 60-53 to Misericordia
Dallas, PA-- The King's College men's basketball dropped a hard-fought 60-53 decision to Misericordia Tuesday night in Freedom Conference action at the Anderson Sports Center.
With the score tied 48 all and 7:10 on the clock Misericordia started a 12-3 run keyed by eight points from Steve Artzerounian to put the game out of reach 60-51 with 1:39 to play.
King's trailed by five, 27-32, with 17:58 to play , but stormed back with a 9-2 run that gave the Monarchs a 36-34 lead after
Matt Fiorino hit on a tear drop jumper in the lane.
The Cougars held a 27-20 advantage with 2:11 remaining in the first half, but King's rallied to score the last eight points of the half getting five points from
Keyton Winder including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining.
The Monarchs largest lead of the game came in the early stages of the first half as King's came out of the gate hot yet again. They built the lead to 12-4 on a layup from
Tim O'Shea at the 14:49 mark. The Cougars bounced back with 13-2 spurt of their own to take a 17-14 lead.
O'Shea paced the Monarch offense with 15 points to go with two rebounds. Senior guard
Kyle Stackhouse chipped in 11 points, seven boards and three helpers. Fiorino was 4-of-9 from the field and tallied nine points.
The Cougars got a big night from Artzerounian who posted 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting as well as pulling down seven boards. Ethan Eichhorst totaled 12 points and eight rebounds and was the only other Misericordia player to reach double figures.
The Monarchs close out their season with a trip to Wilkes. The game tips off at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Marts Center.
