KING'S WOMEN'S TENNIS EDGED BY ALVERNIA, 5-4
READING -- The King's College women's tennis team came just short in its final match of the regular-season as the Monarchs dropped a 5-4 decision to host Alvernia University Sunday in Reading.
With the loss, King's slipped to 7-13 on the year while Alvernia improved to 9-5.
King's opened the match by winning two of the three doubles bouts. Sara Lynn teamed with Diana Darby for a 8-4 victory in the first flight while Katlyn Rossowski and Cara Medwick combined for a 9-7 win in the third flight.
Alvernia, however, responded by capturing four of the six singles matchups to seal the victory. Lynn was a 6-3, 6-3 winner in the number-one flight while Emily Biffen registered a 6-1, 6-0 triumph in the third flight for the lady Monarchs lone two singles victories.
King's now turns its attention to the 2012 Freedom Conference Team Championships on Tuesday when third-seeded King's travels to face second-seeded Misericordia at 4:00 p.m. in Dallas.
