DALLAS -- The King's College field hockey team handed head coach Cheryl Ish with her 200th career victory as the Lady Monarchs posted a 3-1 victory over Kean University in the opening round of the Misericordia Invitational Friday in Dallas.

With the win, King's improved to 2-0 on the year as Ish improved her career record to 200-144 in her 19th season with the Lady Monarchs. Since 1999, Ish has compiled a fine 167-83 and led King's to 13 straight seasons with at least 10 victories.

Against Kean, King's opened the scoring when Jackie Sikora scored unassisted 9:50 into the game. The Lady Monarchs built a 2-0 advantage when Alyssa Monaghan scored an unassisted goal of her own just 0:36 later.

In the second half Kean cu the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Korri Thompson with 2:58 remaining in the contest but King's put the game away with 0:18 left in the contest on a goal by Megan Mundy.

King's outshot Kean 12-7 and held a 11-9 advantage in penalty corners. Megan Withrow posted three saves to pick up the shutout win in goal for the Lady Monarchs.

King's returns to action Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when the Lady Monarchs face Juniata College in the final day of the Misericordia event.
