King's Hoops Teams Square-Off with FDU-Florham Saturday in Freedom Conference Play
Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College men's and women's basketball teams will play their Freedom Conference home opener against FDU-Florham on Saturday at Scandlon Gymnasium. The women's game will tip off at 1:00 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3:00 p.m.

Prior to the men's game the Monarchs will recognize senior guard
Kyle Hammonds who became the 28th player in King's history to reach the 1,000 point plateau after scoring 19 points at Delaware Valley on Wednesday. Head coach J.P. Andrejko is also chasing a career milestone as he is just one win away from being second Monarch coach to reach the 200-win mark.
The Monarchs are 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the Freedom Conference after falling 74-64 to Delaware Valley on Wednesday. FDU dropped a 78-62 decision to DeSales to fall to 3-4 on the year 0-1 in league play.
Hammonds leads the King's offense averaging 16.3 points per game. Fellow senior
Joe Caffrey chips in 11.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and a team-leading 4.2 assists per contest.
King's women stand at 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the Freedom Conference after a 77-56 loss at Delaware Valley. The Devils are 7-0 overall
 and 1-0 in conference play after an 84-49 victory over DeSales. FDU is currently ranked 19th in the country.
Three King's players are averaging double figures in scoring led by junior captain
Marissa Manning with 13.3 points. Manning also pulls down 6.6 rebounds and has blocked seven shots this season.
Jennifer Fabian has tallied a season double-double with 10.7 points and a team-high 11.0 rebounds per game. She has also recorded 18 blocks on the season. Freshman
Kayla Feairheller has notched 10.0 points per contest while grabbing 4.7 boards.
The men are back in action next Saturday when they host Susquehanna on the opening day of the Monarch Classic while the women are off until Dec. 30 when they take on Catholic University in the opening game of the U.S. Capital Holiday Tournament at Catholic.
