King's Softball Coach Lisa Gigliello Looking for 500th Career Win Today at Keystone

GIGLIELLO GOING FOR 500TH CAREER VICTORY TODAY AT KEYSTONE

WILKES-BARRE — King's College head softball coach Lisa Gigliello will be in search of her 500th career victory today when the Lady Monarchs travel to LaPlume to face Keystone College in a non-conference doubleheader at 3:00 p.m. at Edmunds Field.

Entering the game, Gigliello owns an outstanding 498-234-2 record in her 20 seasons as the Lady Monarch mentor.  Currently, her King's squad is 10-2 on the year.  Keystone stands at 6-4.

Gigliello has been highly successful in her time with the Lady Monarchs, leading the team to 10 of the last 12 Freedom Conference Championships, including 11 NCAA Division III National Tournament berths during this period. Last season King's went 29-13 overall and 10-4 in league play.

King's is paced by junior shortstop Jenn Harnischfeger who earned Freedom Conference "Player of the Week" honors on Monday. Harnischfeger is batting .543 (19-35) with 19 runs scored, two doubles, two triples, one home run, and 10 RBI while stealing 12-of-12 bases.  Junior catcher Amanda Cardone follows with a .471 (16-34) mark with six doubles, two home runs, and 14 RBI. Freshman first-baseman Amy Kowalczyk stands at .387 (12-31) with two doubles, while fellow rookie Katie Kowalski also bats .387 (12-31) with six RBI. Freshman Maggie Gola is hitting .333 (11-34) with four home runs, three doubles, and 12 RBI.

Leading the King's pitchers is junior Brittany Haight who is 2-0 with a 0.93 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 22 innings. Junior Karissa Kross stands at 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 14 innings.

King's will then return to the field Thursday with a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader at local rival Misericordia in a battle between two of the top programs in the Freedom Conference.
