King's Softball Improves to 4-0 After Winning Pair in Myrtle Beach

KING'S SOFTBALL WINS PAIR, IMPROVES TO 4-0
MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- The King's College softball team pushed its record to 4-0 on the year as the Lady Monarchs won a pair of games Monday at the Snowbird Tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC. In its first game King's downed Penn State Hazleton 8-0 in five innings before posting an 8-0 win over Ursinus College in six innings.

In the opener, Jenn Harnischfeger led the way by going 3-for-3 with two runs, a double, and a RBI. Amanda Cardone was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles while scoring two runs. Erin Beane and Tina Seber both went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Kayla Rutkoski was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Amy Kowalczyk added a hit and RBI, Katie Kowalski chipped in with one run, while Maggie Gola contributed a RBI.

Allison Herbert picked up the pitching win, allowing just two hits and striking out two batters in five innings of work.

Against Ursinus, Beane was 2-for-2 with three RBI, including a two-run home run in the second inning. Cardone was 2-for-3 with a RBI double, Kowalski was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Harnischfeger finished 1-for-2 with a RBI double and two runs scored. Rutkoski and Maggie Gola chipped in with one hit each.

Rachel Linso was the winning pitcher, allowing six hits in three full innings. Brittany Haight followed with two scoreless innings.

The Lady Monarchs return to the field Tuesday with a 9:00 a.m. game against Randolph College, followed by an 11:00 a.m. matchup with York College.
