King's Women's Tennis Scores 8-1 Win Over Eastern
Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College women's tennis team scored an 8-1 victory over Eastern in the regular season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon at Kirby Park.
The Lady Monarchs swept the doubles matches with
Sara Lynn and
Madeline Griffin defeating Jenna Laubach and Jenn Balbi 8-2 at top flight. At number two doubles
Emily Biffen and
Liz Demko knocked off Kim Kirk and Erika McChesney 8-2. Kaitlyn Rossowski and
Nicole Molino tallied an 8-6 win over Elaine Grazulis and Angela Anthony at the third flight.
Griffin scored a straight set 6-0, 6-0 win at second flight singles over Balbi. Biffen, Demko, Rossowski and Molino all scored straight set wins. The Monarchs only loss of the day came at top flight singles where Laubach defeated Lynn 6-2, 6-2.
The Lady Monarchs have clinched the second seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs and will host Misericordia on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Kirby Park.
