KING'S SOFTBALL HOSTING CROSS-TOWN RIVAL WILKES THURSDAY IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE MATCHUP
WILKES-BARRE — The King's College and Wilkes University softball teams will renew their long-time rivalry Thursday when the Lady Monarchs host their cross-town rivals in a 3:00 p.m. Freedom Conference doubleheader at the Betzler Athletic Complex.

King's will take a 16-2 overall record into the matchup while standing t 4-0 in Freedom Conference play. Entering Wednesday's doubleheader at Lycoming, Wilkes was 7-9 overall and 4-2 in Freedom Conference play.
The Lady Monarchs are led by junior catcher
Amanda Cardone who sports a team-high .520 (26-50) batting average with three home runs, nine doubles, and 19 RBI. Junior shortstop
Jenn Harnischfeger follows at .500 (24-48) with one home run, three doubles, and two triples with 12 RBI and 15 stolen bases.
Freshman first-baseman
Amy Kowalczyk bats .380 (19-50) with two doubles and 10 RBI. Freshman outfielder
Katie Kowalski is hitting .373 (19-51) with four home runs and 13 RBI. Freshman designated hitter
Maggie Gola adds a .370 (20-54) mark with eight home runs, four doubles, and 28 RBI.
Junior
Brittany Haight tops the pitching staff with a 4-0 record with a 0.85 ERA and two saves with 27 strikeouts in 33 innings. Junior
Karissa Kross is also 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 21 innings. Senior
Annie Erndl is 3-2 with a 5.04 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 25 innings.
Emily McGrath tops the squad with a .419 (13-31) with one home run, two doubles, and six RBI. Kait Brown follows at .387 (12-31) with five RBI. Jordan Borger stands at .351 (13-37) with four doubles and nine RBI. Jessalyn Paveletz chips in with a .327 (18-55) with two home runs, two doubles, and nine RBI.
Wilkes pitching staff is headed by the threesome of Brook Chapin, Alysha Bixler, and Laykin Hughes. Heading into the Lycoming doubleheader, Chapin was 1-3 with a 3.10 ERA and six strikeouts in 29 innings. Bixler was 3-0 with a 4.20 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 23 innings, while Hughes was 1-5 with a 5.44 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 36 innings.
