WILKES-BARRE -- Playing a day earlier than expected the King's College number-one doubles team of Madeline Griffin and Julia Keppel won their frst-round doubles match Friday at the MAC Individual Championships at Kirby Park.

Griffin and Keppel downed the FDU-Florham team of Nu Kermini Kermah and Selina Grande by an 8-1 count.

The event was originonally slated for Saturday and Sunday but rain forecasted for Saturday resulted in MAC officials moving the starting day up to Friday afternoon.  Griffin and Keppel were the only King's players to compete on Friday.

Play will resume Saturday at the Kingston Indoor Tennis Center. If local forecasts predicting the rain will stop around 12:00 noon, play could continue outside if the courts dry. The event will conclude Sunday either indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather.
