KING'S MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO SUSQUEHANNA IN PEPSI TIP-OFF TITLE GAME

SELINSGROVE, PA --- The King's College men's basketball suffered their first loss of the season, 67-45 to host Susquehanna University in the title game of the Pepsi Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

With the win Susquehanna improves to 3-0 while King's falls to 3-1.

The first half went back and forth with five lead changes, four ties, and neither team able to gain a lead of more than four points. Brandon Hedley hit a jumper to give Susquehanna a 31-27 halftime advantage.

Susquehanna came out in the second half and immediately started to increase their lead as they went on a 12-0 run to go up by 16 in the first five minutes. King's was held without a field goal until Derek Wilkins hit a layup with 10:58 left in the game to cut Susquehanna's lead to 14 points but that was the closest the Monarchs would come.

Dan Rutecki led the Monarchs with 13 points and eight rebounds. Dan Borner had 11 points and seven rebounds. Chris Fazzini contributed five points while Tom Heston added five rebounds for the Monarchs. Rutecki and Heston were named to the All-Tournament team after the game.

Susquehanna was led by Brandon Hedley with 14 points and five assists. Tournament MVP Steven Weidlich fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

King's shot just 24.6 (14-57) percent from the field and 18.2 (2-11) percent from three-point range. Susquehanna shot 32.3 (20-62 percent from the field and 26.7 (8-30) percent from three point range. The Crusaders scored 18 points off 16 Monarch turnovers while the Monarchs were only able to score two points off 12 Crusader turnovers.

The Monarchs will return home to host Drew University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
