King's Swimmers Set Two School Records During Opening Night of MAC Championships

KING'S SWIMMERS SET TWO SCHOOL RECORDS TO COMPLETE FIRST DAY OF MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

YORK -- The King's College women's and men's swim teams each set a new school record during the opening night of the 2014 MAC Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center Thursday night in York.

The opening night of the tournament featured two relay events for both women and men.


In the women's 200-medley relay, King's team of Brigid Wynn, Rachel Jonas, Macawley Brown, and Erin McLin finished sixth with a time of 1:54.76, breaking the school record of 1:57.17 set earlier this season.

The men's 800-freestyle relay team of Michel Sweeney, Kyle Newton, James McLaughlin, and Justin Weilert placed seventh with a time of 7:23.69, shattering the previous school-record of 7:30.10 set last season.

King's 800-freestyle team of Wynn, Caroline Fitch, Katie Fitch, and Patricia Manning finished eighth with a time of 8:23.35.

For the men, King's 200-medley relay team of James McLaughlin, Michael Sweeney, Kyle Newton, and Josh Shoemaker did not fare as well as the foursome was disqualified.

The four-day event will continue Friday at 11:00 a.m. with finals slated for 6:00 p.m.
