KING'S SOFTBALL IMPROVES TO 4-2 WITH WINS OVER LaROCHE AND CABRINI
MYRTLE BEACH — The King's College softball team tacked on two more wins during its Spring Break tip to the Snowbird Tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Lady Monarchs posted a pair of shutouts Tuesday, blanking LaRouche College 6-0 in six inning, followed by an 11-0 triumph over Cabrini in five innings. With the win King's improves to 4-2 on the year.
Against LaRoche,
Jenn Harnischfeger went 2-for-2 with a double and a solo home run.
Maggie Gola was 3-for-4 with a RBI while Nicolette Pizzi was 2-for-3.
Shelby Eby was 1-for-3, drilling a grand slam home run in the fifth inning while
Amanda Cardone was 1-for-3 with a RBI.
Erin Beane and
Lisa Alley had one hit apiece while
Amy Kowalczyk scored one run.
Karissa Kross was the winning pitcher for King's, allowing two hits with strikeouts while tossing a shutout.
King's had defeated Cabrini 11-1 a day earlier and the Lady Monarchs picked up where they left off. Harnischfeger was 3-for-4 with a double and solo home run while scoring three runs. Beane was also 3-for-4 and scored two runs while Cardone went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Pizzo was 1-for-3 with a solo home run and scored three runs while
Lisa Alley was 1-for-2 with a solo home runs.
Kelsie Senchak finished 1-for-3 with a RBI while Kowalczyk went 1-for-3.
Rachel Linso took the win in the circle, throwing all five shutout innings and allowing five hits with four strikeouts.
King's will wrap up the Snowbird Tournament Wednesday with a 9:30 a.m. matchup against Johnson & Wales and a 1:30 p.m. single game against LaRoche.
