King's Women's Tennis Gains 5-4 Conference Victory Over Arcadia

LADY MONARCH TENNIS POSTS IMPORTANT 5-4 ROAD WIN AT ARCADIA

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's tennis team remained in a first-place tie in the Freedom Conference, posting a 5-4 victory over Arcadia University Saturday at Kirby Park.

With the win King's improved to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in Freedom Conference play. Arcadia, meanwhile, slipped to 5-6 and 1-3 in league competition.

King's started the match taking two of the three doubles contests. The teams the split the six singles bouts, giving the Lady Monarchs the victory.

Madeline Griffin, Sara Lynn and Emily Biffen were all winners in singles and doubles. Griffin was impressive at number-one singles with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph while Lynn was equally dominant, tallying a 6-1, 6-0 singles triumph. The tandem then teamed up for an 8-2 doubles win. Biffen won the first-set 6-1 before her opponent, Viola Sawyer, retired.   In doubles, the Lady Monarch pair of Biffen and Katlyn Rossowski were 8-2 victors.

King's will play at Wilkes Wednesday in a battle of league unbeatens at 3:00 p.m.
