King's Women's Tennis Falls to Wilkes in Battle for 1st Place

KING'S WOMEN FALL TO WILKES IN BATTLE FOR FIRST PLACE

WILKES-BARRE -- The defending champion Wilkes University women's tennis team moved into sole possession of first-place in the Freedom Conference, posting a 9-0 victory over visiting King's College in a battle of league unbeatens Wednesday at the Ralston Courts.

With the win Wilkes improved to 14-2 overall and 5-0 in conference while King's slipped to 8-6 and 4-1.

Wilkes won all three doubles contests to start the match, then swept all six singles bouts, five coming in straight sets.  King's Sara Lynn was the only

King's player to reach a third set in singles, falling to Kendra Croker 2-6, 6-2, 10-5.


King's returns to action Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. against East Stroudsburg University at Kirby Park
