KING'S WOMEN'S TENNIS CLINCH SECOND SEED FOR FREEDOM TOURNEY WITH WIN OVER EASTERN

ST. DAVIDS --- The King's College women's tennis team clinched the second seed in this week's Freedom Conference Tournament as the Lady Monarchs posted a 6-3 decision over host Eastern University Saturday in St. Davids.

With the win King's improved to 9-7 overall and 5-1 in conference matches. Eastern, meanwhile, slipped to 9-7 and 3-3.  The second-seeded Lady Monarchs will now host third-seeded Misericordia Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Kirby Park.

King's jumped out to a 2-1 lead after capturing two of the three doubles contests. Emily Biffen and Katlyn Rossowski were 8-4 victors in the number-two flight while teammates Maggie Walsh and Lauren DeReinzi also won by an 8-4 margin at third doubles.

The Lady Monarchs then clinched the match by winning four of the six singles contests. Madeline griffin was a 7-5, 7-5 winner in the first flight while Sara Lynn won a marathon 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 7-5 triumph at number-two singles. Emily Biffen posted a 6-1, 7-5 win in the third flight while DeReinzi was a 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 winner at number-five singles.
