KING'S MEN'S SOCCER POSTS 4-2 PSU-ALTOONA

WILKES-BARRE -- Niall Croke scored twice as the King's College men's soccer team posted a 4-2 victory over visiting Penn tate Altoona Saturday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win, King's improved to 2-0 while the Lions slipped to 0-2.

Altoona took a 1-0 lead just 4:08 into the game when Seth Murrelle scored off a Chris Miller assist.

The Monarchs knotted the game at 1-1 when Croke found the back of the net off a throw-in by Kevin Hagmier at the 7:09 mark. King's would take a 2-1 lead at the break when Daniel Hernandez scored off a through pass by Korbin Keene with 25:50 left in the opening stanza.

The Monarchs pushed the score to 3-1 when Croke scored off a corner kick feed from Kyle Willis 1:07 into the second half.  The lead swelled to 4-1 with 29:01 remaining in the contest when Brian Fenster tapped in a shot inside the right post off a crossing pass by Brian Alifano.

The Lions tallied the final goal of the game with 22:08 on the clock when Seth Murrelle.

King's outshot Altoona 13-6 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.  Monarch goalie Tyler Wilson posted two saves.

King's returns to action September 3 with a 4:00 p.m. matchup at Elmira College
