KING'S MEN FALL HARD TO MISERICORDIA

DALLAS -- Senior guard Joe Busacca scored 19 points and made four of his five three-pointers during a 1:33 span early in the second half as the Misericordia University men's basketball team took advantage of a horrible shooting night by king's College to post a 70-41 Freedom Conference victory Wednesday night in the Anderson Center.

With the win Misericordia improved to 12-4 and 4-1 in the Freedom Conference while the Monarchs slipped to 9-7 and 2-3.
King's scored the first four points on the game on buckets by Chris Fazzini. Misericordia would score the next 12 points to take a 12-4 lead after a Jesse Urich three-pointer with 10:59 left in the opening stanza.

King's would go without a basket until 10:45 when when Tim O'O'Shea scored the first of two straight baskets to bring the score to 14-8 with 7:02 on the clock.
But the Cougars went on a 14-7 surge the rest of the way to take a 28-15 lead at the break.

Heston scored seven points for King's while O'Shea added six. Monarch leading scorer Dan Rutecki played just seven minutes of the first half before going to the bench with his second foul.

In the second half Misericordia used an inside bucket by 6-foot-10 James Hawk before Busacca exploded for 12 points on four three-pointers in under a two-minute span to give the Cougars a 36-17 lead with 16:34 left in the contest.

Misericordia then followed up with a 11-4 run to stretch the lead to 47-19 with 14:12 to play after a traditional three-point play by Patrick Widdoss.  As King's shots failed to drop in, the Cougars would eventually build its biggest lead of the game at 36 points when a pair of foul shots from Johnny Peterson push the score to 67-31 with 4:20 on the clock.

King's shot a pedestrian 28.6 (14-49) from the field and just 7.7 (1-13) from three-point range. Heston led King's with nine points and six rebounds while Connor Hughes followed with seven points. O'Shea tallied six points while Garrison Wilson came off the bench to score four points.  Rutecki, who was saddled with foul trouble much of the game, did not score.

Hawk aided the Cougars with 12 points while Ware added 10 points and seven boards.

King's returns to action Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. home matchup against Manhattanville College.
