SHOOTING WOES SINK KING'S MEN IN 71-44 LOSS TO DELAWARE VALLEY
DOYLESTOWN -- The King's College men's basketball team suffered through a horrific night of shooting as the Monarchs dropped a 71-44 road loss to Delaware Valley University in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams Wednesday night in Doylestown.

With the loss King's fell to 5-3 on the year while Delaware Valley improved to 4-1.

King's shot just 28.0 (14-50) percent from the floor in the game while making only 6.3 (1-16) from three-point range. The Monarchs also committed 21 turnovers in the game.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half as the squads were deadlocked at 17-17 with 7:10 left in the opening stanza. But the Aggies closed out the half with a 14-2 run to take a 31-19 lead into the break.

In the second half the Monarchs' shooting remained ice cold while the Aggies began to get hot. Delaware Valley scored 20 of the next 24 points to extend the lead to 51-23 with 14:27 remaining. The Monarchs would never threaten and trailed by as many as 39 points late in the game.
Not a single player from King's scored in double-figures in the game. John and Chris Fazzini led the Monarchs with eight points each while Dan Rutecki added seven points and team-highs of eight rebounds and three assists.
Delaware Valley placed four players in double-figures with Chris Moran leading the way with 13 points while Alex Matsinye and Barry Brockington added 12 points each.

King's returns to the court Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. home Freedom Conference matchup against FDU-Florham in Scandlon Gym.
