King's Women's Tennis Falls to Unbeaten Wilkes, Will be Seeded Third for Freedom Conference Tournament

KING'S WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO WILKES, 8-1

WILKES-BARRE -- The Wilkes University women's tennis team completed an undefeated season in Freedom Conference play as the Lady Colonels defeated cross-town rival King's College 8-1 Sunday at Kirby Park.

The won enabled Wilkes to improved to 16-1 overall and clinched the top seed in the Freedom Conference with a 6-0 mark. King's, meanwhile, fell to 6-10 and 3-3 and will be the third seed in this weeks conference tournament.  

King's lone win came at number-one singles where Madeline Griffin improved to 21-1 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kendra Croker in a rematch of the Middle Atlantic Conference singles championship match. It was Griffin's 20th straight victory of the season.

King's will host East Stroudsburg University Monday at 4:00 at Kirby Park. The Lady Monarchs will then travel to face second-seeded Misericordia in the Freedom Conference semifinals Wednesday in Dallas at a time to be announced.
