Connor struck again about four minutes later for her second goal of the game when Nicolette Towlen found her on a cross from the right side off of a counter-attack.
The Monarchs regrouped and fought to get on the board. They nearly cut the deficit in half in the 72nd minute when Amy Barge's shot from distance just hit the crossbar and Allison Andrew rebound shot was saved by the Colonel keeper. King's finally was able to get on the board in the 80th minute when Danielle Putnam knocked in a rebound off a shot from Barge that once again hit the crossbar. The Monarchs had one more chance to even the score in the 86th minute but Kristen Ryan's shot from in the box was saved.
