With the top-four teams qualifying for the Freedom Conference Tournament, the King's women are in sixth-place in the eight-team league.  The Lady Monarchs (11-11/4-7 Freedom) dug a deep hole after losing their last two games, a home overtime loss to Manhattanville on Saturday, and a 60-52 road loss to Eastern Wednesday night.  Misericordia, meanwhile, is already eliminated from playoff consideration at 6-16 and 2-9 in league play, but one of the Cougars' victories was a 62-61 win over King's on January 20 in a game King's led the entire contest until Misericordia scored the winning basket with 2.3 second remaining. Since that game King's has gone on to lose six of its last seven contests, all Freedom Conference defeats.

King's, which is there games behind fourth-place Delaware Valley and one behind fifth-place Eastern will need to win their final three games and then get help.  Delaware Valley, which travels to King's on Tuesday, must lose each of their final three games.  Aside from need three Delaware Valley losses, King's also needs Eastern to lose at least one of its final three games. Should King's and Eastern finish in a tie King's would likely pass the Eagles by virtue of the MAC tie breaking criteria based on its season series split with second-place FDU-Florham, which swept Eastern. But for King's, a Delaware Valley win at home over last-place Wilkes on Saturday would officially eliminate the Lady Monarchs.

On the men's side, King's (11-11/5-6 Freedom) stands alone in sixth-place, one game behind Manhattanville, Misericordia, and Wilkes who are all tied for third with identical 6-5 league records. King's will have the opportunity to gain ground as the Monarchs have games remaining against both Misericordia and Wilkes.

The Monarchs remained in the race after going on the road to pick up an important 86-77 victory over Eastern to secure a third straight league win. Misericordia (12-10/6-5) picked up a big road win with a 79-78 win over first-place Delaware Valley on Wednesday.
