KING'S SOFTBALL TAKES TWO ON SECOND DAY OF MYRTLE BEACH TRIP

MYRTLE BEACH, SC --  The King's College softball team fared much batter on its second day of the Snowbird Tournament than it did on Sunday's opening day as the Monarchs won both games Monday in Myrtle Beach.

King's evened its record at 2-2 with a 9-3 win over Mt. Aloyisus in the morning game, then followed up with a 13-1 victory in six innings over SUNY-Poly in the afternoon matchup.

Against Mt. Aloyisus, King's held a 2-1 lead before scoring two runs in the third, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth to put the game away.

Nicole Turner went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Shelby Eby was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, and two RBI. Samantha Bloom went 1-for-4 with two RBI while Amy Kowalczyk was 1-for-2 with an RBI.  Samantha Mitchell went 1-for-1 with two runs while Tara Westington finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored. Mikayla Hoskins earned the complete-game pitching win for King's, allowing three earned runs on five hits.

In the second game, King's held a slim 3-1 lead after five innings. But in the top of the sixth inning the Monarchs exploded for 10 runs to invoke the mercy rule.

Lexi Wolk was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a RBI. Kelcie Senchak finished 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and a triple. Alizabeth Ellsworth was 3-for-4 with a run and three RBI. Meagan Beaupre was 1-for-3 with a RBI double.

Rachel Linso (1-1) picked up the pitching win, scattering five hits over six complete innings of work.

King's returns to the field Tuesday with a 3:30 p.m. game against NCAA Division II Ohio Valley University before facing a rematch with Mt. Aloyisus at 5:30 p.m.
