King's Softball Splits with Cazenovia, Penn College to Finish 4-4 at Myrtle Beach

KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS TWO WEDNESDAY, FINISHES SPRING BREAK TRIP AT 4-4

MYRTLE BEACH -- The King's College softball team split both its games on Wednesday in Myrtle Beach, SC, finishing its Spring Break trip with a 4-4 mark.

The Monarchs downed Cazenovia College 7-5 but was unable to hold on to a 9-2 lead to Penn College of technology, falling 11-2 in the nightcap.

Against Cazenovia, Amber Saylor went 2-for-2 with a run  while Samantha Bloom was 2-for-4 with a run. Megan Beaupre finished 1-for-2 with two RBI.  Kelcie Senchak had a hot and two runs.  Bloom was the winning pitcher, allowing three earned runs in seven innings with seven strikeouts.

In the Penn College matchup, King's build a 9-2 lead in the fifth inning. But in the bottom half King's committed three costly errors, leading to nine Wildcats runs, five which were unearned. 


Trailing 11-9 in the sixth, the Monarchs scored one run but would come no closer.

Bloom was 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Shelby Eby was 3-for-4 with a run while Brianna DiMaggio was 2-for-4 with three runs. Amy Kowalczyk finished 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Rachael DeTpre added one hit and two RBI.  Rachel Linso was the losing pitcher in relief, allowing four runs in two innings of work.


King's will make its home debut Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader against Immaculata University in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
