KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS MORRISVILLE WITH RESPECTIVE 8-0 VICTORIES

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College softball team received two outstanding pitching performances from Samantha Bloom and Rachel Linso as the Monarchs posted a doubleheader sweep of visiting Morrisville State Sunday at the Betzler Athletic Complex.
King's, which won the first game 8-0 in six innings and then 8-0 in five innings, improved to 16-12 while Morrisville slipped to 6-14.
In the opener, Bloom tossed a one-hitter, striking out eight batters over the first three innings while finishing with 10 for the game.
Amy Kowalczyk was 3-for-4 with four RBI, including a three-run double which ended the game. Kelcie Senchak was 2-for-3 with a run; Alizabeth Ellsworth added a two-run double; while Brittany McNair delivered a two-run single.
In the nightcap, Linso was also impressive, throwing a four-hitter while striking out seven batters.
Zina Knight went 3-for-4 with four RBI, including a three-run triple to end the game. Meagan Beaupre was 2-for-3 with a run while Maddie Kumm finished 2-for-2 with two runs and a RBI. Lexie Wolk also added two hits to the King's attack.
King's will return to the field Tuesday with a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader at crosstown rival Wilkes.
