GOALS BY THREE DIFFERENT LADY MONARCH PLAYERS

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -  The King's College soccer team posted its eighth shut out of the season with a 3-0 win over non-conference opponent Neumann University on Tuesday night. Three different Lady Monarchs players found the back of the net, with two recording their first-career goals.

King's moves to 8-5-2 on the season, while the Knights slip to 6-8-1.

The Lady Monarchs scored quick into the first half when the Neumann goalkeeper kicked the ball off sophomore Danielle Putnam on a clear, and the forward was able to redirect it into the net from five-yards out to give King's the 1-0 lead. With the goal, Putnam leads the team with seven for the season.

Neumann tried to answer back, but the Monarchs' defense and offense were able to stay strong, outshooting the Knights 7-3 in the first half

In the second half, the Lady Monarchs pushed the score to 2-0 at 70:46 when sophomore Sophia Sacknievich received the ball six-yards out from an Allison Andrew feed. The Knights' goalie was unable to make the sliding save, and Sacknievich was able to slip the ball in for her first-career goal. Six minutes later, freshman Melanie Matthews broke past the Neumann defenders and found Bekah Araujo on a cross from the right side. Araujo beat the goalkeeper to knock the ball in from close range to earn her first-career goal as well.

King's did not allow a single Neumann shot in the second half, and the Lady Monarchs finished the night outshooting the Knights 11-3 with a 9-2 shots on goal advantage. With the win, goalkeeper Elizabeth Nolen (3-0-1) recorded her fourth shutout of the season.

The Lady Monarchs return to action on Oct. 28th for a key road match against conference foe FDU-Florham at 1 p.m.
