KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS OPENING PAIR IN MYRTLE BEACH
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College softball team opened its Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach, SC by winning its first game of a doubleheader against Mount Aloysius 12-3, but dropped the nightcap 4-1 on the first day of the Fastpitch Dreams Classic.
In the opener King's struck early and often, scoring five runs in the first inning, six in the second, and added one more i the third.
Rachael DeTore was 3-for-4 and scored two runs while Meagan Beauore was 2-for-4 with four RBI, including a three-run triple. Nicole Turner finished 1-for-3 with two RBI while Allie DeVoir was 1-for-3 with two RBI. Samantha Bloom was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
In the second game King's managed just five hits in the game with DeTore going 2-for-3 while scoring the Monarchs' lone run. Lexi Wolk, Brittany McNair, and Monica Burda each added one hot for King's. Kristina Kocher took the pitching loss, allowing four runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings. Mikayla Hoskins pitched the final three and one-third and allowed just one hit.
King's will return to the field Monday with a 1:30 PM game against Grove City College, then square off against Chatham University at 5:30 PM.
