KING'S SOFTBALL RALLIES PAST WESLEY, FALLS TO La ROCHE

MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- The King's College softball team settled for splitting a pair of games for the third straight day as the Monarchs evened their record at 3-3 on their Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach.

King's rallied past Wesley College 4-3 in its morning game but dropped a 8-4 decision to LaRoche in its afternoon pairing.

Against Wesley, King's trailed 3-2 entering the seventh inning but battled back for the victory. But Ally DeVoir and Nicole Turner delivered two-out back-to-back RBI singles in the top-of-the-seventh inning to pull out the win.

King's took a 1-0 lead in the first when Lexi Wolk doubled and later scored from third on a wild pitch. Wesley added the tying run in the bottom half of the inning and then took a 2-1 lead with an unearned run in the fourth. King's tied the the score in the fifth when Rachael DeTore drew a bases-loaded walk. Wesley again took the lead in the sixth on another unearned run to forge ahead 3-2.   But KIng's rallied when Saylor singled with one out and Wolk produced a two-out single to set up DeVoir and Turner.

Samantha Bloom picked up the pitching win for King's, allowing three runs, one earned, on nine hits and struck out four batters.

In the nightcap, King's and LaRoche were tied at 1-1 after two innings, but Monarchs were outscored 7-3 the rest of the way as LaRoche played three runs in the third and two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.

Saylor had an inside-the-park home run for King's in the fifth while Wolk posted two base hits and score a run Turner also drove in a run and scored another for the Monarchs.

King's will close play Wednesday with a 11:30 AM matchup against Eastern Mennonite before facing Penn State Abington at 3:30 PM.
