KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH IMMACULATA

IMMACULATA -- The King's College softball team posted a doubleheader splits with host Immaculata University in a non-conference matchup in Immaculata.

Immaculata rallied to win the first game 10-9 before King's took the nightcap 7-1. King's now stands at 15-11 while the Mighty Macs are 13-13.

In the second game the teams were tied 1-1 until the Monarchs scored twice in the third inning. King's added four more runs in the fourth to earn the victory. 

In the second inning Samantha Bloom singled and Megan Beaupre delivered a two-run home run to give the Monarchs a 3-1 lead.  In the fourth inning Taylor Norris doubled and scored on a single by Alizabeth Ellsworth. After Amber Saylor followed with a RBI single. Bloom smacked a two-run home run to bring across the final runs of the game.

Beaupre was 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI while Bloom was 2-for-3 with two runs, a home run, and two RBI. Lexi Wolk and Saylor were both 2-for-4 with a RBI. Bloom (8-2) was also the winning pitcher in the game, scattering six hits while striking out eight batters.

In the opener King's led 7-0 when Immaculata scored six runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to trail 9-8 heading in their final at-bats.  The Mighty Macs took advantage of a King's error to score two unearned runs to win the game.

Bloom was 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, and four RBI. Saylor was 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs while Andria Narisi was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Wolk finished 2-for-4 with a RBI.

King's returns to the field Saturday with a 1:00 PM home doubleheader against cross-town rival Wilkes University in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
