KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH ALBRIGHT
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with visiting Albright College Wednesday in the Betzler Athletic Conference.
Albright won the first game 11-1 before King's took the nightcap 5-2. The Lady Monarchs now stand at 16-14 on the year while Albright is 15-17.
In the second game King's fell behind 2-0 after the Lady Lions opening at-bats. But the Monarchs countered with three in the bottom of the frame. King's would add its final two runs in the third inning.
Alizabeth Ellsworth went 3-for-3 with a RBI while Megan Beaupre was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Â Kristina was the winning pitcher, allowing six hits in seven innings of work.
In the opener, Albright used a seven-run second inning to do its most damage, building a 8-0 lead. The Lions added three runs in the fifth before King's scored its lone run in the bottom of the frame. The Monarchs had just four hits in the game. Amber Saylor, Taylor Norris, Monica Burda, and Ellsworth all had singles for King's.Â
The Monarchs travel to face FDU-Florham Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Freedom Conference finale for both teams.
