KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH SCRANTON
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College and University of Scranton softball teams split a doubleheader Monday at the Betzler Athletic Complex. Scranton won the first game before King's came back to take the nightcap 12-3 in six innings.
In the opener King's scored its lone run in the fifth inning when Alizabeth Ellsworth singled and later scored on a base hit from Samantha Bloom. Kayla Paszek took the loss, allowing both runs on seven hits
In the nightcap, King's fell behind 4-1 after four innings, but the Monarchs exploded for five runs in the fifth and sixth more in the sixth to end the game on the eight-run rule.
Bloom was 3-for-4 with two RBI while Ellsworth finished 2-for-3 with three RBI. Rachael DeTorre went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI while Ally DeVoir was 2-for-4 with a RBI. Amber Saylor and Megan Beaupre both checked in with 2-for-4 efforts with two runs scored while Brittany McNair went 1-for-2 with two RBI.Â
Kristina Kocher (3-2) was the winning pitcher in relief, tossing two hitless and scoreless innings.
King's will host Immaculata University Tuesday in a 3:00 PM doubleheader before returning to the field Wednesday to host Eastern University in a 3:00 PMÂ make-up doubleheader.
