King's Softball Drops Pair to Arcadia in Regular-Season Finale

KING'S SOFTBALL DROPS PAIR TO ARCADIA

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College softball team closed out the regular-season by dropping a pair of games to visiting Arcadia University in a non-conference pairing Tuesday in the Betzler Athletic Complex.

Arcadia won the opener 4-0, then captured the nightcap by an 11-2 margin.

King's will head into this weekend's Freedom Conference Tournament with an overall record of 17-17 while Arcadia will compete in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament with a 27-11 mark.

In the opener King's managed just two hits, one each by Lexi Wolk and Taylor Norris.  Kristine Kocher pitched well in defeat for King's, allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits.

In the second game King's trailed 2-1 entering the third inning but Arcadia pushed across four runs, then added three in the sixth and two more in the seventh to put the game away.

King's had eight hits in the game, paced by Wolk who was 2-for-3 and scored one run. Amber Saylor was 2-for-4 with a RBI while Ally DeVoir finished 2-for-3. Kayla Paszek took the pitching loss, allowing five earned runs in four and one-third innings.

Third-seeded King's will open up Freedom Conference Tournament play Friday at 12:00 noon against second-seeded Wilkes University at Delaware Valley University.
