WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 20, 2018) – The King's College women's ice hockey team will be on the road over Thanksgiving weekend for a pair of games against Nichols College in Rhode Island. The Monarchs and Bison will begin the weekend series on Friday night at 6:40 p.m. in Levy Rink before wrapping up the series on Saturday at 3:40 p.m. in Harrisville.

Nichols tied Beker 2-2 in Levy Rink before going on the road to defeat the Hawks 4-0 in Colonial Hockey Conference play. Cassandra Goyette made 49 saves between the pipes for the Bison including 40 in the shutout victory.
The Book On The Monarchs (1-7-0, 0-6-0 UCHC, 0-2-0 MAC):
- Kellie Munro and Gracen Mahoney have led the team this season as each has recorded four points on two goals and two assists. Both have recorded at least one point on three of the four weekends this season.
- Raeann Clancey scored the game-winning goal and added an assist on the insurance goal in King's 3-1 victory over Wilkes to earn Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore also assisted on Mahoney's breakaway goal against the Valiants on Friday night.
- Maggie Gould has two goals for the Monarchs in her rookie season scoring the first goal of the year and then again against Nazareth.
- Kiva Sierra Stoltz has seen most of the action between the pipes recording a 1-5-0 record. She has a 6.10 GAA and a .866 save percentage while making 213 saves. She is fifth in the nation in saves.
- King's has struggled with committing penalties this season but have been excellent on the penalty kill. The Monarchs are ninth in the nation with 11.8 penalty minutes per game recording 94 minutes on 47 penalties in six game.
- KC is ranked 36th in the nation on the penalty kill at 87.0 percent. The Monarchs have killed off 40 of 46 power play opportunities for their opponents.
- Their combined specials teams percentage of 53.2 is ranked 27th in Division III.
- Emma Zeveney has seen action in three games recording a 9.30 GAA and a .833 save percentage. She made a season-high 57 saves against Oswego, one shy of her career high.
The Book On The Bison (5-2-1, 3-2-1 CHC):
- Nichols has gotten off to a great start this year and are already nearly halfway to matching their win total from last year.
- The Bison traveled down to Pittston last season and rallied with three goals in the final eight minutes for a 4-2 victory over King's.
- NC is 2-1-1 this year at Levy Rink winning their first two games of the season on home ice.
- Sophomore Mel McAleer and senior Kelly Ferreira have recorded double digit points for the Bison so far. McAleer has 11 points on six goals and five assists while Ferreira adds six goals and four assists.
- McAleer and Ferreira have both scored two goals in a game twice this season and are also on three-game point streaks.
- Sophomore Jordyn McGuire has scored two game-winning goals and has five points on two goals and three assists as a defenseman.
- Senior Cassandra Goyette has positioned herself among the top goalies in Division III with a 1.37 GAA and a .951 save percentage. She is ranked 18th in goals against average, 11th in save percentage, and 28th with a .688 winning percentage.
- Goyette has been a big reason why the Bison are 12th in the nation in scoring defense and are tied for 22nd with a scoring margin of 1.00.
- Nichols is averaging 10.0 penalty minutes per game and have been spectacular on the penalty kill. The Bison are sixth with a kill percentage of 97.1 giving up just one power play goal on 35 chances and scoring one short-handed goal. Their combined special teams of 54.2 percent is ranked tied for 21st.
Up Next: King's will finally be back on home ice when they host Stevenson University for a pair of United Collegiate Hockey Conference and Middle Atlantic Conference games next weekend. The Monarchs will host the Mustangs on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Revolution Ice Centre for the team's Hockey Fights Cancer game. The teams will then faceoff on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Pittston.
