WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 28, 2018) – The King's College women's ice hockey team will be on home ice for the first time in a month this weekend with two games against United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) foe Stevenson University. The Monarchs and Mustangs will faceoff at 7 p.m. on Friday night and then again at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Pittston at Revolution Ice Centre.

This weekend the King 's women's ice hockey team is holding Hockey Fights Cancer weekend. Founded in 1998 by the National Hockey League® and the National Hockey League Players' Association, Hockey Fights Cancer™ (HFC) unites the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. The initiative gets an assist from players, coaches, officials, equipment managers, front office staff, corporate partners, and fans. Last Time Out: The Monarchs traveled to Rhode Island over the Thanksgiving weekend dropping two contests to Nichols College. After a 7-1 victory on the opening night of the series that included an eventful third period that included four Bison goals, King's had one of their best defensive performances of the year in a 3-0 loss in the series finale.

Emma Zeveney returned from an injury to make 38 saves in the 3-0 loss.
Stevenson fell to Nazareth by scores of 4-1 and 7-3 two weekends ago on home ice in Maryland. Four of the five goals in the opener were power play goals while the Golden Flyers jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first 26 minutes of the series finale. Caitie Darosa got the start in both games and made 56 saves before being relieved 14:27 into the second game.
The Book On The Monarchs (1-9-0, 0-6-0 UCHC, 0-2-0 MAC):
- Emma Zeveney returned from injury on Saturday to make 38 saves in a 3-0 loss at Nichols. The sophomore has a 7.37 GAA and a .856 save percentage in four games this season. She began the year with 57 saves against Oswego, one shy of her career high.
- Gracen Mahoney and Kellie Munro have led the team this season, recording five points each. Mahoney has three goals and two assists while Munro has recorded two goals and three assists. Mahoney has scored in three of the last five games
- Freshmen Meghan Mietlicki and Erin King have been very consistent on defense for the Monarchs this season. The duo have played in every game and have blocked 33 shots.
- Kiva Sierra Stoltz has recorded a 6.24 GAA and a .870 save percentage in eight games, saving a total of 268 shots. Stoltz is ranked third in the nation in saves.
- King's has continued to struggle with penalties this season, however they have been excellent on the penalty kill. The Monarchs are eighth in the nation with 12.0 penalty minutes per game recording a total of 120 penalty minutes in ten games.
- King's in ranked 41th in the nation on the penalty kill at 81.8 percent. They have killed off a total of 45 of 55 power play opportunities against their opponents.
- King's combined special teams percentage of 51.6 percent and is ranked 28th in Division III.
- Caitlin Redden is expected to return from injury this weekend. The sophomore played in six games this season and recorded twelve shots.
The Book On The Mustangs (1-6-1, 0-5-1 UCHC, 0-2-0 MAC):
- The defending MAC Champions and UCHC finalists have gotten off to a slow start against a tough early season schedule. The Mustangs are riding a four-game losing streak after loses to William Smith and Nazareth. Stevenson has been outscored 22-6 during the skid.
- SU shut out the Monarchs last year down in Maryland winning by scores of 10-0 and 6-0.
- Freshman Nikki Kendrick has started her career off with a bang as she leads the team with 10 points on six goals and four assists. The forward is tied for third in Division III with four power play goals and 10th in points by a freshman. Kendrick has recorded at least one point in every game except for SU's 4-0 victory at New England College.
- Senior Kellen Wittman also has six goals on the season while adding three assists. She has scored in five of the eight games and recorded a point in six.
- Casey Storck leads the team with five assists from her defensive position. The sophomore has also scored a goal for six points and has recorded a point in five games.
- Cierra Siemasko and Jordan Pirrello each have scored two times this season. Siemasko scored short-handed against Nazareth in the last game while Pirrello had the game-winner against NEC.
- Caitie Darosa is 1-2-0 in goal seeing 53.5% of the time. The senior has a 3.47 GAA and a .907 save percentage while making 146 saves in seven games.
- Annie Smyth-Hammond has saw 33.5% of the minutes in net recording a 0-1-1 record with a 4.06 GAA and a .902 save percentage.
- The Mustangs are giving up 4.50 goals per game which is the fourth-most in the nation. Stevenson has struggled on the penalty kill as their 63.6% is fourth-lowest in Division III.
- Stevenson is averaging 9.5 penalty minutes per game and have given up 12 power play goals on 33 opportunities.
