KING'S MEN'S HOCKEY EDGED BY LEBANON VALLEY, 5-4

PITTSTON --    Bryan Hovanec scored twice, including the game winner with just under six minutes remaining in the third period as the visiting Lebanon Valley College men's ice hockey team posted a 5-4 victory over host King's College Friday night at Revolution Ice in Pittston.

With the win the Flying Dutchmen improved to 10-8-2 overall and 10-3-2 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 0-22 overall and 0-13 in the UCHC.

King's took a 1-0 led with 5:37 remaining in the first period when Jamie Lukas scored thanks to an assist by Luciano Bucci.  But the Flying Dutchmen forged a 1-1 tie with just 0:41 to go in the opening frame when Kevin Van Bokkelen scored of assists from T.J. Sneath and Zach Balodis.

The game would open up in the second period when the Dutchmen scored two straight goals in the first 3:42 as Bryan Hovanec and Brennan Thompson gave Lebanon Valley a 3-1 lead The Monarchs cut the score to 3-2 with 14:10 remaining in the period when Isaac Cirinna scored a short-handed goal off a steal near center ice.  

King's then tied the score at 3-3 with 5:37 to go in the period when Lukas stole an errant pass in the Dutchmen zone and found the back of the net for the second time in the game. But Lebanon Valley would take a 4-3 into the third period when Brad Nolan scored with 2:08 left in the second stanza.

King's would tie up the game at 4-4 with 14:56 remaining in the third period when Mitchell Foster struck net off an assist from Nicholas Palumbo. But Lebanon Valley pushed across what proved to be the winning goal Bryan Hovanec scored with 5:57 to play.

Lebanon Valley outshot King's 42-29 and held  37-27 advantage in faceoffs. Monarch goalie Jake Tugnutt made 37 stops while Dutchmen keeper Tyler Perhac had 25 saves.

King's returns to action Saturday with a 7:00 PM home game against Chatham University at Revolution Ice.
