KING'S SOFTBALL TAKES TWO TUESDAY IN MYRTLE BEACH
MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- The King's College softball team improved to 4-2 on the year as the Monarchs won both of their games Tuesday in Myrtle Beach.
King's defeated Penn College of Technology 8-3 in its first game of the day before rallying for a 2-1 win over Chatham University in the night cap.
Against Penn College, King's scored three runs in the fourth, four in the fifth, and one in the sixth to secure the victory.
Monica Burda was 1-for-2 with a two-run single in the fourth inning. Brittany McNair finished 1-for-3 with a two-run single in the fifth. Kelcie Senchak also drove in two runs and scored another. Taylor Norris went 1-for-2 with two runs and a RBI single. Â
Kristina Kocher was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs in 5.2 innings of work.
King's then rallied past Chatham after trailing 1-0 after five innings.Â
In the fifth, Lexi Wolk tripled and scored on an error to tie the game at 1-1. Â
In the bottom of the seventh, Amber Saylor drew a two-out walk and promptly stole second base. Samantha Bloom then delivered a walk-off RBI double to plate Saylor with the winning run.
Five different batters had one hit for King's in the game. Bloom was the winning pitcher, allowing one unearned run on seven hots with three strikeouts.
King's will wrap up its spring break trip Wednesday with an 11:30 AM game against Dean College, followed by a 1:30 PM matchup against Hilbert College.
