KING'S SOFTBALL DROPS PAIR TO F&M
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College softball team was unable to get its bats going as the Monarchs dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader to visiting Franklin & Marshall College Tuesday in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
The Diplomats won the first game 1-0 before taking the nightcap 4-0. King's now stands at 14-12 on the year while F&M is 12-10.
In the opener, both teams combined for just five hits with King's managing only two. Franklin & Marshall scored the lone run of the game in the third inning on a sacrifice fly.
Kelcie Senchak had both hits in the games for the Monarchs and also took the pitching loss, allowing one run in three innings of work. Samantha Bloom pitched well in relief, allowing just one hit over the final four innings.
In the second game, the teams were deadlocked in a 0-0 tie when the Diplomats scored three runs in the fourth and added another in the fifth.
King's had five hits in the game with Ally DeVoir posting a triple and Senchak, Kristina Kocher, Taylor Norris, and Bloom all tallying singles.
Bloom was the losing pitcher, allowing three runs in three and two-thirds innings of work.
King's returns to the Betzler Complex Saturday with a critical MAC Freedom Conference doubleheader at 1:00 PM against FDU-Florham.
