King's Softball Team Splits Twin Bill with Keystone

KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH KEYSTONE

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College softball team took a break from MAC Freedom Conference action on Wednesday to forge a doubleheader split with visiting Keystone College in the Betzler Athletic Complex.

Keystone won the first game 5-4 before King's took the nightcap 5-1.

In the opener, Keystone took a 1-0 lead after one complete inning. Both teams scored three runs apiece in the third inning as Keystone took a 5-4 lead that stood up over the final four frames.

Megan Beaupre led King's by going 3-for-4 with a two-run double. Mindina  Lieback was 1-for-2 with a RBI double while Lexi Wolk finished 1-for-3 with a run and RBI. Samantha Bloom took the pitching loss, allowing four earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.

In the second game King's built a 5-0 lead through five innings before Keystone score its lone run in the sixth.

Mackenzie Yori was 2-for-2 with two runs while Amber Saylor and Wolk both added two hits and score a run. Beaupre also contributed a two-run home run in the third inning. Nicole Kirse was the winning pitcher for King's, allowing four hits and one unearned run with three strikeouts.

King's will next travel to St. Davids to resume conference play against eastern University in a 1:00 PM doubleheader.
