Last Time Out: King's played a pair of home matches against Juniata College and Berkeley College (NJ) this past weekend. The Monarchs came out with two wins, defeating Juniata 3-0 and Berkeley 2-0. Four different Monarchs scored and King's held their opponents to just five total shots in the two matches with none on goal.
The Book On The Monarchs (2-2-1):
- Senior Owen Geedey continues to lead the MAC Freedom and is now fourth in the nation with 476:35 minutes played. The keeper has recorded three shutouts this season which is ranked fifth in the nation. He is currently the school record holder with 25 career shutouts. His .833 save percentage is third in the conference while his 0.38 goals against average is second.
- Senior Steven Grebe, juniors August Axtman and Fabio Massa, and sophomore Liam McLoughlin all scored one goal for the Monarchs over the weekend. Juniors Ryan Romeo and Aidan DeCamillo recorded an assist each.
- Axtman has anchored a King's defense that hasn't allowed a goal in over 300 minutes. Last week King's allowed just 14 shots including five shots on goal in three matches. The defender also scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick during Sunday's victory over Berkeley. He was named the MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. The Monarchs are ranked 38th in the nation with a GAA of 0.38.
- Junior Matthew Hesse leads the team and is ranked seventh in the conference with an average of 2.40 shots per game. McLoughlin is not far behind him in ninth with 2.20 shots per game.
- King's is outshooting their opponents 71-24 this year and have put 30 shots on goal through five matches. The team leads the conference with 33 corner kicks taken.
- King's and Wells have met just once before on the pitch. McLoughlin scored all three goals for the Monarchs last year as King's defeated the Express 3-1 in Aurora, NY.
The Book On The Express (2-3):
- Wells enters Wednesday night's match with a 2-3 overall record after a pair of victories over the weekend. The Express opened NEAC play with a 4-2 victory at Cazenovia on Saturday before defeating Hilbert 9-1 at home on Sunday. The nine goals in a match was a school record for the 13-year old program.
- Senior Christian Garavito is one of his team's top offensive players, leading in the number of shots and goals for the Express. Garavito is tied atop the NEAC rankings with four goals and is second in points with eight.
- Junior Junger Vargas leads the team and the conference with three assists while also scoring one goal. Vargas is also ranked 29th in the nation in assists.
- The Express have received goals from 11 different players this year while outscoring their opponents 15-8. Wells is being outshot 73-56 but are second in the NEAC with 21 corner kicks taken. They have the top offense in the NEAC and are ranked highly in Division III in goals, assists, and points. Their 15 goals are ranked 14th in the nation, their 11 assists are ranked 17th, and their 41 points are 15th.
- Freshman Colton Jaquith has seen a lot of action in just five matches. His 464:03 minutes played is 10th in the nation. He is third in the conference and 34th in the nation with 23 saves while recording a GAA of 1.55 and a save percentage of .742.
