The Coaches: Jeff Knarr is in his 10th season with the Monarchs, as he is only the second coach of King's College football since 1991. Knarr took over for Rich Mannello, who was the head coach since football was reinstated at King's in 1993. Ed Hottle is in his ninth season as the head coach at Stevenson, as he was the program's first-ever coach named back in 2009. Hottle has led the Mustangs to five consecutive winning seasons and five straight postseason appearances. Led the Mustangs to their first-ever conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016, just the sixth season in program history. In 2016 was named the ECAC Division III South and MAC Coach of the Year.

Looking at Stevenson: The Mustangs of Stevenson come in with the league's highest-scoring offense, averaging 36.2 points per game along with the second-best scoring defense at just 16.2 point a contest. Quarterback Ryan Sedgwick has been solid this season, throwing for 17 touchdowns and just three interceptions, while Chaz Lyles has five touchdown catches and is averaging 94.5 yards per game receiving. Getting Stevenson off the field will be key this week for King's, as SU is converting 54.5 percent of third downs. That rate is sixth-best in Division III. Also, Stevenson has a big play defense, scoring four defensive touchdowns, most in D-III.

Preseason Poll: The Monarchs were picked to finish tied for sixth this season with crosstown rival Wilkes University. Stevenson was picked to finish second with two first-place votes, earning 90 votes.

All In White: King's will be in white pants with white jerseys and gold helmets Saturday afternoon at Stevenson University.

Single Digit Tough: The Monarchs award single digits based on merit, and recently named two more as Single Digit players. So far this season, three players (Gabe Boccella, Joe Damiano, Elijah Demosthene) have earned single digits, including most recently Elijah Demosthene, who will now wear No. 6. Due to NCAA regulations, linemen can not wear single digits, but Joe Damiano will wear a single digit in practice. With those three, King's now has eight Single Digit Tough players: Sallavanti (1), Horn (2), Downes (3), McCall (4), Shelton (5), Demosthene (6), Boccella (8), Damiano (66), Swartz (67).

Captains This Weekend: The Monarchs will send out sophomore Tyler Moore, along with juniors Gabe Boccella, Charles McCall and Elijah Demosthene as captains this weekend at Stevenson.

  • King's continues to hold teams from getting first downs, ranking first in the Middle Atlantic Conference in total first downs allowed with just 87 all season.
