Women's Swimming Knocks Off Cabrini

MEET RESULTS

RADNOR, PA (October 26, 2019) -- The King's College women's swimming team continued to swim well to start the campaign on Saturday, winning its first road meet of the season handily 139-66 over Cabrini University in action from Dixon Center Pool. 

The Monarchs (2-0) started the day with a decisive win in the 200 yard medley, as sophomore Elizabeth Savidge started the relay followed by Amina Zaidi, Sarah Fleisher and Claire Coe to post a 1:58.37 for the victory. 

King's would pick up both second and third place in the 1000 freestyle, with Kailie Karensky taking second with a 12:08.96 while Hannah Redding was third after touching the wall in 12:17.59. 

The first individual win of the afternoon came from freshman Rachel Woomer, as she cruised to a win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:04.35. Fleisher was right behind her freshman teammate with a 2:10.15, and fellow newcomer Madison Modugno registered a 2:14.43. 

The Monarchs would dominate the 50 freestyle as well, as freshman Alesix Majka earned the win with a 25.64, followed by Coe in second place with a 26.43. Abigail Strennen would finish third as well for the Monarchs with a 27.35, while Corinne Smith exhibitioned her swim and recorded a 27.34. 

The 200 IM saw another win for the Monarchs, as Savidge chalked up a 2:21.34 to win by over two seconds. Freshman Emilia Serafin was third as well with a time of 2:30.62. 

Woomer returned to the pool for the 200 butterfly and starred, as she went under 2:10.00 in her first collegiate swim in the event. The standout posted a 2:09.56 to win by over 13 seconds. The time is also the Middle Atlantic Conference's top time this season in the event by over four seconds. 

Also in the 200 butterfly, Fleisher finished second with a 2:22.88. The 100 yard freestyle saw the Monarchs pick up some solid times, as Majka swam a 56.63 for the win. The time was the fifth-fastest in the MAC this year. 

Also in the 100 free, Modugno was third with a 59.51, and Smith finished fourth after swimming a 1:01.07. Sophomore Stephanie Tabaka exhibitioned the swim, and tallied a 1:01.11. 

King's continued to have strong outings int he 200 backstroke, going 1-2 thanks to a 2:18.07 by Savidge and a 2:19.64 from Noelle Pedersen. Coe would earn another win in the 500 freestyle after chalking up a 5:37.14, and Woomer was second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:37.88. 

In the 400 freestyle relay, the Monarchs chalked up another victory to end the meet as Strennen, Modugno, Majka and Smith combined to break four minutes with a time of 3:57.94. 

The Monarchs will look to stay unbeaten in dual meets on Friday evening, hosting the University of Scranton in Scandlon Pool at 6 p.m. in non-conference action.
