GLENSIDA, PA (November 16, 2019) -- Freshman
Rachel Woomer picked up three victories Saturday afternoon at Arcadia University, but the host Knights were too much as the King's College women's swimming team fell 144-118 in action from Lenox Pool.
In the first event of the day, King's "A" squad pulled away for the win thanks to a time of 1:57.59. In the 1000 freestyle, freshman
Sarah Fleisher finished second with a time of 11:36.45, while
Hannah Redding posted a season-best time of 12:09.43.
The 100 backstroke was a strong event for the Monarchs, as Pedersen earned the win with a 1:05.90 while sophomore
Liz Savidge was second with a time of 1:06.37.
Megan Whitt posted a season-best time of 1:09.78 to finish fifth.
Freshman
Amina Zaidi registered a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, as she recorded a season-best time of 1:16.59. The 200 butterfly was a dominant event for King's, going 1-2-3 as Woomer recorded her first win of the day with a 2:11.02 for a 15-second win. Fleisher was second with a 2:26.35, and
Kaelyn Gardner was third with a 2:27.27.
The 50 freestyle saw freshman
Alexis Majka take second after swimming a 26.48, and fellow newcomer
Madison Modugno was fifth with a 27.08.
Pedersen was first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:25.85, and Savidge was right behind her in second place with a 2:25.85. Woomer was back in the pool to capture first in the 200 breaststroke with a strong time of 2:38.04, and Zaidi recorded a season-best 2:50.19.
Woomer won the 100 butterfly by three seconds with a 1:00.88, while Gardner was third after booking a 1:05.21.
Alyssa Gesek was fifth after swimming a 1:09.03 with a season-best.
Savidge finished second in the 200 IM, after swimming a 2:26.90 and Gardner recorded a season-best 2:28.45 for fourth place.
The Monarchs will host the two-day Diamond City Invitational November 23-24 at the Wyoming Valley CYC starting Saturday at 9 a.m. in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
