MEET RESULTS
WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 8, 2019) -- The King's College women's swimming team jumped back into the win column on Friday evening, starting fast and coasting to a 152-49 victory over Lebanon Valley College from Scandlon Pool.
The Monarchs started the afternoon by earning the nine points in the 200 medley relay, as Elizabeth Savidge,
Rachel Woomer,
Amina Zaidi and
Alexis Majka swam a 1:59.16 for the win. The Monarchs would earn more points in the 1000 freestyle, as Woomer posted a 10-second win with a time of 11:36.60. Sophomore
Claire Coe was right behind Woomer, as she registered a 11:46.22 for second place.
King's would go 1-2-3 in the 200 freestyles, as
Hannah Redding earned a four-second win with a 2:11.00, while
Alyssa Gesek chalked up a 2:15.54 for second place.
Corinne Smith finished third for the Monarchs with a 2:21.03 to take third. In the 50 freestyle, King's once again earned the top four spots, as freshman
Madison Modugno won the event with a 27.07, while Abby Strennen booked a season-best time of 27.23 for second.
Noelle Pedersen would swim a personal best in the 50 free, as she was third with a 28.05, and
Kailie Karensky also swam a personal best of 28.30.
In the 400 IM, freshman
Sarah Fleisher put in a solid performance to take the top spot with a 5:02.90, while Savidge was second after swimming a 5:11.23. Freshman
Emilia Serafin added a fourth-place finish after registering a 5:26.55. Junior
Kaelyn Gardner returned the pool for the first time in a few weeks off of injury and cruised to a season-best time in the 100 butterfly with a 1:03.32. Gesek was fourth with a 1:09.53, a season-best time.
The successes in the freestyle events continued in the 100 free, as Coe posted a season-best time of 57.50, the 12th-fastest time in the Middle Atlantic Conference this season. Pedersen was second with a 1:00.31, while
Stephanie Tabaka was third with a 1:01.41. Majka returned to the pool to post a win in the 100 backstroke with a 1:04.85, and
Katelyn Duffy swam a season-best 1:07.22.
The Monarchs got another win in the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 5:48.12, earning the win by over seven seconds. Woomer would pick up another victory in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.57, while Strennen was third after booking a time of 1:18.45. King's also chalked up a victory in the final event of the night, swimming a 1:46.98 to win by four seconds.
King's has a quick turnaround, taking on Stevenson University Saturday at 1 p.m. in Scandlon Pool.
