WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 25, 2019) – King's College women's tennis looks to build on the 3-0 undefeated fall season record they posted and will start their spring season next week in Florida.

The team will travel to the greater Orlando, Fla. area from Sunday, March 3, to Thursday, March 7 on their annual spring break trip. While in the sunshine state the team will compete beginning that Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with Emerson College followed the next day by Trine University at 3:00 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday the team battles Regis College while on Wednesday the women face a double header versus Alvernia University at 10:00 a.m. followed by Cornerstone University (Mich.) at 6:30 p.m. The trip rounds out against Wentworth Institute of Technology Thursday the 7
th at 8:00 a.m.

Of those five teams, The Monarchs faced Emerson and Regis on last year's trip dropping to Emerson 4-5 and to Regis 4-5. King's women went 0-5 overall while in Florida.

Emily Fernandez and freshmen

Kelsey Schneider. King's adds another freshmen and Pennsylvania native,
Prabhjot Kaur, to their roster.

Before going on break the team competed at the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships.

The dynamic duo of Coffee and Fernandez made their way to the semifinals of doubles-competition taking down DeSales and Manhattanville until the couple lost to the defending champs of Wilkes University, Vasarkovy and Saliyev, who would become the 2018 MAC Doubles Champions.

Fernandez also came back from her 2017 finals loss to become 2018 MAC Women's Tennis Individual Champion in the No. 1 Singles Bracket. She defeated Wilkes' Saliyev 6-2 in both sets.

Coffee, Gale, Santarelli and Zalutko were knocked out of the competition in the first-round while Seasock the second in the No. 7 bracket. Rodriguez advanced to the quarterfinals before falling 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 5 flight.

The Monarchs return home and open their spring season Sunday, March 24 at 12:00 p.m. where they play Lebanon Valley College at Kirby Park.
