Last Time Out: Freshman forward Jake Pawliczak scored 37 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the year but it wasn't enough as the host FDU-Florham Devils used a strong second half to pull away from King's College for a 80-63 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory from the Ferguson Recreation Center in Madison, NJ.

Pawliczak was very efficient from the field knocking down 17 of his 21 field goal attempts. The freshman hit nine of his first 10 shots and knocked down two free throws for 20 points at halftime.

King's (4-17, 2-8 MAC Freedom) jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first 5:34 as Pawliczak had six points and Tyler Millan knocked down consecutive threes and a jumper for eight points. The Devils responded with a 13-0 run to take a 18-16 lead. The teams traded buckets for the rest of the half as FDU-Florham took a 37-34 lead into the break.

The Devils (5-16, 2-8 MAC Freedom) came out strong in the second half outscoring the Monarchs 43-29. After shooting just 36.3 percent in the first half, the Devils started hitting their shots as they hit 53.6 percent of their 28 field goals including six threes on 12 attempts. Pawliczak was just as good in the second half as the Monarchs feed the big man the ball for 17 points on eight-of-11 shooting and one free throw.

Millan finished with 11 points and five boards while hitting three treys. Josh Bailey added five points while Andrew Hudak had four points and five rebounds. The Monarchs shot 49.1 percent (26-53) from the field after shooting 51.5 percent in the first half. King's won the rebounding battle 34-33 but lost the turnover battle 15-6.

A Look At The Monarchs (4-17, 2-8 MAC Freedom):
  • Jake Pawliczak posted a monster game on Saturday, as his 37 points were the most in a game since Kevin Conroy tallied 41 back on January 10, 2009 against Delaware Valley.
  • Additionally, the 17 made field goals was the most by a MAC Freedom player this season, besting the 16 by Sean Smith of Manhattanville on December 8.
  • The freshman forward leads the league in field goal percentage at 59.6 percent, and is 39th nationally.
  • The Monarchs are averaging 69.6 points per game on offense, but 75 points per night on the season. King's has allowed 80 or more points in four of its last five contests.
  • King's has played better on its own floor this season, winning all four games that King's has picked up in its own gym.
  • The Monarchs are currently ranked second in the MAC Freedom in steals per game with 8.3, which is 75th nationally. Sophomore Noah Tanner paces King's with 37 total thefts on the year.
  • Pawliczak is leading King's offensively, posting 11.5 points per game this year in 24.3 minutes of action.
  • Tanner is second on the team in scoring with 10.3 points, adding a team-leading 67 assists, while junior Andrew Hudak is adding 9.6 points and 8.6 boards per contest.
  • Freshman Joey Lindsay connected on his first career three-pointer Saturday at FDU-Florham, going 1-of-2 from the floor.
A Look At The Aggies (11-10, 7-3 MAC Freedom):
  • Delaware Valley has been playing well of late, winning five of its last six games including a win over Eastern University at home Saturday, 63-61. DelVal has won its last two road games as well, averaging 91 points in those victories.
  • The Aggies don't rank in the top three in virtually any category in the MAC Freedom, but they have played tough and allowed just 143 made threes this season which ranks second-lowest in the league.
  • DVU also attacks the rim well, making the second-most free-throws of any time in the conference with 325. The Aggies are third in percentage from the line with 74.2 percent.
  • Delaware Valley does a good job of limiting turnovers as well, committing just 13.2 per game which is second-fewest behind FDU-Florham.
  • Damian Washington is ninth in the MAC Freedom in scoring with 15.2 points per game, while Mike Cianciulli is adding 13.2 points a game for the Aggies.
  • The last time these two teams played, Cianciulli went off for 27 points and seven assists.
  • Andre Butler is seventh in rebounding in the MAC Freedom with 7.0 caroms a night, producing 9.3 points per game as well.
  • Alex Matsinye posts 11.8 points per game for the Aggies as well, and his 19 blocks this year are ninth in the MAC Freedom.
Against DelVal All-Time: King's has held a decided advantage in the series with Delaware Valley, posting a 68-18 all-time mark against the Aggies. The Monarchs swept the season series last year, but before that DelVal had won five of the previous six meetings. The teams first met back in 1962, with King's earning an 85-60 win. Earlier this year, DVU knocked off King's in Doylestown, 84-73.
