READING, PA (February 9, 2019) – The King's College men's indoor track and field only have five jumpers and throwers competing on Saturday but all five scored points in their events to give the Monarchs a second-place finish at the Albright Invitational in Reading.
Lehman College scored 181 points to top the 15-team field while KC was second with 52 points. Rutgers-Camden was third with 40 points, Lancaster Bible was fourth with 36, and Rowan College of Gloucester County rounded out the top five with 34 points.

Pole Vault
Freshman
Zachary Matson recorded his first collegiate mark at 3.35 meters (10'11.75") to score eight points. Matson hit 3.20 meters on his first try before needing three attempts to clear 3.35 meters. He missed all three tries at 3.50 meters. Alvernia freshman Trevor Keefer was the only other collegiate student-athlete competing in the event and recorded a height of 3.50 meters (11'5.75"). Keefer hit 3.20 meters on his first try, 3.35 meters on his second, and 3.50 meters on his first attempt before failing to clear 3.65 meters.
Long Jump
Cole Horan finished sixth overall out of 13 jumpers and scored five points with a mark of 5.87 meters (19'3.25") on his first attempt. The freshman fouled on his second try before hitting 5.73 meters, 5.74 meters, 5.83 meters, and 5.44 meters on his other jumps.
Khaliel Burnett, an unattached athlete topped the field with a jump of 6.19 meters (20'3.75") on his fifth attempt. Lehman's Lloyd Richards was the top collegiate finisher in second with a mark of 6.05 meters (19'10.25") on his third try.
Triple Jump
Cole Horan was the top collegiate finisher scoring 10 points and finished third overall out of six jumpers with a mark of 11.31 meters (37'1.25") on his first jump of the day. Horan hit 10.53 meters and 10.26 meters on his next two jumps before passing on all three attempts in the finals.
Khaliel Burnett won with a mark of 13.94 meters (45'9") on his first jump. Dalton Johnson was second with a jump of 11.87 meters (38'11.5") on his fifth attempt.
Shot Put
The Monarchs scored 10 points between their three throwers as
King-Shakim Rose finished fifth,
Justin Le Cadre finished sixth, and
Jackie Ni finished 10th overall but eighth among collegiate competitors. Rose was the fourth collegiate finisher with a toss of 12.94 meters (42'5.5") on his first attempt to score five points. He threw 12.35 meters, 12.63 meters, 12.28 meters, 11.92 meters, and 12.49 meters on his other five throws. Le Cadre was right behind Rose to score four points with a toss of 12.69 meters (41'7.75") on his second try. The freshman started the day with a mark of 12.05 meters and fouled on his third, fourth, and sixth attempts. He hit 12.62 meters on his fifth throw. Ni had a mark of 11.38 meters (37'4") on his first toss to score one point. The sophomore also recorded tosses of 10.56 meters and 10.64 meters.
Adam Hunt of Rowan College of Gloucester County topped the field of 27 with a mark of 15.54 meters (51'0") on his sixth and final throw of the day. Alex Palescandolo, an unattached competitor was second with a mark of 14.91 meters (48'11") on his second attempt.
Weight Throw
Jackie Ni won the event to score 10 points with a toss of 15.03 meters (49'3.75") on his third attempt of the day. The sophomore fouled on his first attempt and hit 13.70 meters on his second. He then finished with marks of 14.43 meters and 14.29 meters before fouling on his final throw.
Justin Le Cadre was third in the field of 19 to score six points with a toss of 14.03 meters (46'0.5") on his sixth and final throw. The freshman started with marks of 12.79 meters, 13.69 meters, and 13.32 meters to qualify for the finals. He then hit 13.56 meters on his first throw of finals and fouled on his second.
King-Shakim Rose became King's third MAC qualifier in the event as he finished sixth to score three points with a mark of 12.68 meters (41'7.25") on his fourth attempt. Rose, who was competing in the weight throw for the first time in his collegiate career, fouled on his first attempt and then hit 12.05 meters and 11.82 meters to qualify for the finals. In the finals he threw his best attempt before tossing 12.20 meters and fouling on his last toss. Andrew Kustera of Rutgers-Camden was second with a mark of 14.41 meters (47'3.5") on his fifth attempt.
The Monarch will compete as a full team tomorrow as they travel up to New York when they will compete at Cornell University in Ithaca.
