Jones Sets Long Jump Record as Monarchs Turn In Strong Day at Misericordia; Klem Runs 1500 at Paul Donahue Invite

DALLAS, PA/CHESTER, PA (April 18, 2026) – The King's College men's outdoor track & field team showed some strong performances with some personal bests this afternoon at the Misericordia Invitational, highlighted by a school record in the long jump by Jordan Jones. Sophomore Preston Klem had an excellent performance at the Paul Donahue Invitational hosted by Widener University, competing at the George A. Hansell Track & Field Stadium against a field that featured Division I, II, and III programs.


Paul Donahue Invitational
Preston Klem kicked off the day by winning his heat of 13 runners and placing seventh overall in the 1,500 meters with a personal best time of 3:57.89. Klem's time was 4.86 seconds faster than his original. He additionally becomes the second Monarch in program history to break the four minute barrier in the event.
 

Misericordia Invitational
In the track events, Ryan Baxter started off the day with a fifth place finish in the 1500 meters at 4:17.73. Joesph Rossi and Sebastian Williams earned 13th and 15th respectively with times of 4:32.27 and 4:32.70. Vincent Fazzino took 20th at 4:43.70, while teammate Noah Kolinovsky got 26th at 5:18.63.
 
Ben Wnuk claimed third place in the 800 meters by crossing the line at 2:01.29. Cohen Claar took fifth at 2:03.96, Casimir Glaude got eighth at 2:05.33, and Jarrett Hoch earned 12th at 2:07.41.
 
In the 100 meter dash preliminaries, Jacob Mullery qualified for the finals by placing third overall as he stopped the clock at 10.92. Evan Galavage and Dary Pichardo additionally qualified for the finals, as Galavage ran a time of 11.22 to receive fifth place, while Pichardo finished 14th at 11.63 meters. Nathan Patla finished in 16th at 11.97 and James Mann got 21st at 13.04 in the prelims as well. However, the sprinters who qualified for the finals failed to get a start off.
 
Williams crossed the line in 1:08.86 to earn sixth in the 400 meter hurdles. John Gillespie took eighth in the 400 meter dash at 56.36, while Victor Cocchiaro placed 11th at 57.16.
 
In the 200 meter dash, Galavage placed fourth at 23.26, Mullery earned sixth at 23.41, Pichardo took 15th at 24.83, and Patla earned 24th with a time of 27.50.
 
The Monarchs ended the day with a second-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay, as the squad ran a time of 3:34.04.
 
In the field events, Brady Rutkoski placed seventh overall with a personal best toss of 38.28 meters in the Javelin throw. Rutkoski's performance was 2.47 meters better than his original standout. Kacy Miller placed eighth at 37.49 meters, while Joey Schneider also settled for a personal best by taking ninth at 35.70 meters. His performance was .85 meters better than his previous. Victor Cocchiaro ended the event by placing 11th at 29.20 meters.
 
Rutkoski continued his dominance with another personal best performance, as he earned seventh at 11.49 meters in the shot put. Rutkoski's performance was .50 meters better than his previous record. Schneider placed eighth with a toss of 11.44 meters, Daniel Mattey claimed 13th at 10.95 meters, Josh Malone earned 15th at 10.35 meters, Jeverett Brauer took 20th at 9.60 meters, and Miller placed 24th with a throw of 8.97 meters.
 
In the discus throw, Mattey finished fifth with a personal best toss of 39.07 meters, which was 1.42 meters better than his previous performance. Rutkoski posted his third personal best performance of the day, taking eighth at 36.15 meters, .5 meters greater than his original standard. Schneider went on to finish in tenth in the competition with a toss of 35.13 meters.
 
In the pole vault, Malone topped the event with a personal best of 3.88 meters, which is .63 meters better than his original performance. His performance was .9 meters better than his original standout.
 
In the long jump, Jordan Jones was the star of the day, earning first place and breaking his own school and personal record in the event with a leap of 6.83 meters. His performance was .9 meters better than his original standout. Kival Clarke placed third overall with a personal best jump of 6.38 meters, which was .5 meters better than his previous record. Philliph Oden finished ninth at 5.72 meters, and Malone claimed tenth at 5.36 meters.
 
In the high jump, Malone and Robert Santos tied for fourth with leaps of 1.77 meters, and Oden placed sixth at 1.72 meters. Kival Clarke topped the triple jump with a personal best leap of 13.93 meters, .25 meters stronger than his previous performance.
 
The Monarchs placed third overall as a team with 97.5 points. Misericordia won the invitational with a team score of 207.5.
 
The King's College men's track and field team returns to action on Saturday, April 25, as they compete at the Monarch Open at the Betzler Outdoor Track & Field Stadium.
