Monarch Softball Game Notes - Susquehanna University

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 21, 2019) – King's College softball returns after Easter break to face Susquehanna University at home. The Monarchs look to bounce back after dropping 0-2 against Misericordia University this past Thursday.

Last Time Out:  The Monarchs dropped in both games against the Misericordia University Cougars as King's College is now 16-15 overall and 4-8 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom games.
 
In game one King's tallied four runs but ultimately lost 5-4 with Kris Kocher in the circle. She moves forward with a 6-6 record.
 
Hits were recorded by Maris Mauro, Lindsey Leppo, Mindina Lieback, Mackenzie Yori and Kristi Ann Skok answered with her own homer in the top of the sixth for the Monarchs first run of the game. This would be Skok's third home run of her rookie season.
 
The Monarchs would rattle off six hits in game two but wouldn't be able to score losing 7-0. Yori recorded two hits as Taylor Norris, Skok, Gabriella Medina and Gianna Marsico all notched one.

Nicole Kirse and Marsico were in the circle. Kirse went 2.1 innings and pushes her record to 6-8 with the loss as she allowed seven hits and struck out two of her 16 batters faced. Marsico went 3.2 innings allowing seven hits as well and striking out one of 18 batters.
 

A Look At The Monarchs (16-15, 4-8 MAC Freedom):
  • King's remains sixth in the MAC Freedom after last week and is 8-4 in home games this season.
  • The team is fourth for batting in the conference at a .296 and moves to first at fielding in the conference and 13th in the nation advancing to a .972.
  • The Monarchs are fourth in the MAC Freedom for earned run average with a 3.31.
  • Gabby Leary still holds the highest batting average on the team with a .353. Yori has the most runs scored (24) as well as the most hits (36). Lieback holds 20 RBIs on the season.
  • Leary and Yori alsi top the Monarchs in fielding, Leary in putouts with 154 and Yori in assists at 76.
  • Kocher has a 6-6-2 record in the circle for King's and an ERA of 3.23.
A Look At The River Hawks (16-12, 7-4 Landmark):
  • Susquehanna is third overall in the Landmark conference and are 3-1 in road games.
  • The River Hawks are third in the Landmark for batting average with a .322 and second for fielding clocking in a .966.
  • The team is also fourth for earned run average with a 3.74.
  • Kasey Bost is fourth for on base percentage at .489 and first on the team for hits (32), RBIs (21), doubles (11), triples (3) and total bases (49).
  • Erin bean has six fielding double plays on the season as Jackie Gore has 102 putouts and Kody Streeter 38 assists.
  • Amanda Seckinger leads the River Hawks in pitching with six wins and one loss and the lowest ERA at 2.17
