WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 24, 2019) – King's College softball faces Lycoming College for a nonconference doubleheader and looks to collect a win after falling in their last two doubleheaders. The two teams were scheduled to meet earlier in the season before weather caused the postponement.

Last Time Out: King's College returned from Easter break to face Susquehanna University in a nonconference doubleheader. The River Hawks came out on top in both ends of the day 7-2 and 6-4 as the Monarchs drop to 16-17 overall on the season.
Despite a strong start, King's would only be able to accumulate four hits and one run before Susquehanna took the lead for the remainder of the game. The Monarchs struck first in the opening inning as
Mackenzie Yori solidified the first run of the game after a left field single. Yori would make her way around the bases as
Mindina Lieback and
Kristi Ann Skok would also record a base hit to edge her forward.
Gabriella Medina was the one to draw Yori home with a sacrifice fly for the second out and only run of the inning. The Monarchs struck first in the opening inning as
Mackenzie Yori solidified the first run of the game after a left field single. Yori would make her way around the bases as
Mindina Lieback and
Kristi Ann Skok would also record a base hit to edge her forward.
Kris Kocher took the loss for the Monarchs as her record slides to 6-7 on the season. The junior struck out five of her 33 batters faced and allowed ten hits.
In game two, as this time Lieback would cross the plate after a single to right center and a sac bunt by
Taylor Norris put her in scoring position. Skok hit one to right center as she made it to first and collected the Lieback RBI the Monarchs grabbed their second run of the game by Yori.
Yori made it to first and stole second before Norris hit another sac bunt for the team's first out of the inning that sent her home.
Nicole Kirse made it on base with a center field single and get to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Lieback made it to first after an error by the shortstop as Kirse advanced to third. Lieback made it to second after a wild pitch and Norris stepped up to bat knocking one to right center and tallying two RBIs.
Kirse took the Monarchs second loss for the day with an overall record of 6-9. She allowed seven hits and struck out one batter of her 29 faced.
A Look At The Monarchs (16-15, 4-8 MAC Freedom):
- King's remains sixth in the MAC Freedom and is 8-6 in home games this season.
- The Monarchs reside at fourth for batting with a .295 average. Yori has taken the top spot in batting average for King's as Gabby Leary has kept at No. 1 for more than two weeks.
- Skok is third in the conference for doubles with 11 in total for the season as Lieback is third for triples with three.
- King's is first in the MAC Freedom for fielding with a .970 percentage as Leary leads the team in putouts and Yori in assists. Both players are third in their respective categories.
- Kris Kocher stays at the top of the Monarchs pitching roster with her 6-7 record so far in the season, she has pitched 13 complete games and has two saves.
- Kocher's two saves put her first in the MAC Freedom and 36th nationally while her 67 strikeouts put her at third in the conference rankings as well.
A Look At The Warriors (16-12, 7-4 MAC Commonwealth):
- Lycoming is eighth in the MAC Commonwealth rankings and come off a doubleheader loss to Stevenson University dropping them to 5-9 in conference games for the season.
- The Warriors are fifth in the conference for batting with an average of .284 as Kayla Kline is second in the MAC Commonwealth and 69th in the nation.
- Kline also leads the conference in slugging percentage (.720) and second in on base percentage (.518).
- In fielding, the Warriors are second at a .965 percentage with Lexie Kovin's 182 putouts and Kline's 93 assists.
- Mikayla Aldenderfer has a 10-7 pitching record on the season with 3.05 ERA and 55 strikeouts, putting her at the top of Lycoming's pitching roster.
