CHESTER, PA (May 4, 2019) – The King's College men's outdoor track and field team had another strong day at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships to finish with a school record 73 points.
King-Shakim Rose was named the MAC Rookie of the Year after scoring 18 points in three different events and two season best marks.
Stevenson University won the team title with 144.5 points while Eastern University was second with 119 points. Host Widener University was third with 116 points followed by DeSales University with 94 points and Lebanon Valley College with 89.5 points. Messiah College was sixth with 83 points, King's was seventh with 73 points, Misericordia University was eighth with 63 points, Alvernia University was ninth with 27 points, and Hood College rounded out the top 10 with 20 points. Delaware Valley University scored 13 points, Albright College had seven points, and Manhattanville College finished with six points.

100 Meter Dash
Emmanuel Edoukou finished sixth to score three points with a time of 11.11 seconds and was edged at the line by Widener sophomore Matthew Ludlow. The sophomore was just shy of his 11.10 seconds qualifying time that he ran on Friday. Stevenson swept the top four spots as Kendall Belser won his second consecutive title with a time of 10.68 seconds. Dereck Davis was second in 10.76 seconds while Malcolm Hayward finished third in 10.98 seconds.
200 Meter Dash
Emmanuel Edoukou ran another school record time of 22.38 seconds to finish second, score eight points, and earn All-MAC Second Team honors. He lowered his previous time of 22.45 seconds that he ran in qualifying. Stevenson senior Kendall Belser won both sprinting events for the second straight year with a time of 21.77 seconds. Widener sophomore Matthew Ludlow was third in 22.63 seconds.
400 Meter Dash
Freshman
Mitchell Forgash finished second to score eight points and earn All-MAC Second Team honors with a school record time of 49.07 seconds. He lowered his previous record of 49.45 seconds that he ran on Friday in the prelims. DeSales junior Marc Brown won with a time of 48.70 seconds while Stevenson sophomore Ritchie Case was third in 49.08 seconds.
800 Meter Run
Mitchell Forgash ran a time of 1:59.06 to finish seventh and score two points. Stevenson junior Iddriss Iddriss won for the second straight year in 1:53.64 while DeSales sophomore Matthew Kraus was second in 1:53.87. Messiah sophomore Matthew Royer was third in 1:54.70.
4x100 Meter Relay
The Monarch team of

Mitchell Forgash ran 44.99 seconds to finish seventh and score two points. Stevenson's team of Morgan Cheatham, Kendall Belser, Malcolm Hayward, and Dereck Davis ran a MAC Championships time of 41.50 seconds. while Lebanon Valley and Widener finished second and third. The LVC squad of Logan Grauer, Luke Williams, Matthew Weck, and Owen Buhr ran 42.65 seconds while Matthew Ludlow, Goodnews Ayichi, Will Gould, and Omari Ranson ran 42.84 seconds. All three teams ran faster times than they did in prelims.
4x400 Meter Relay
The Monarch squad of
Emmanuel Edoukou, Kris Boxer,
Randill De Asis, and
Mitchell Forgash ran a school record time of 3:30.43 to finish third in the first of two heats and 10th overall in the field of 13. King's beat the previous record of 3:34.34 run at the MAC Championships in 2016. Marc Brown, Nick Cauley, Patrick Ludlow, and Matthew Kraus of DeSales won with a time of 3:19.33. Widener's squad of Justin Bromley, David Johnson, Michael John, and Sean Stovall were second in 3:19.99 while Eastern's Stephen Chapman, Jhaunell Burnside, Steven Payne, and Rusty Batykefer were third in 3:21.34.
Field Events
Triple Jump
Matthew Nelson jumped a season best 12.15 meters (39'10.5") on his third attempt to finish 15th in the field of 21. The sophomore fouled on his first attempt and hit 11.48 meters on his second jump before recording his best mark on his third try. Misericordia senior Olutobi Olugbenga won with a mark of 14.43 meters (47'4.25") on his fifth attempt. Eastern junior Teniola Oladeji was second with a jump of 13.78 meters (45'2.5") on his fifth jump while Messiah sophomore Brendan Provan was third with a jump of 13.64 meters (44'9") on his third attempt.
Shot Put
The Monarchs had three of the top five to score 17 points with
Justin Le Cadre recording the best mark of the three with a school record toss of 14.10 meters (46'3.25") on his second attempt to finish second, score eight points, and earn All-MAC Second Team honors. He started with a mark of 13.96 meters and then fouled on his final four attempts. The freshman improved the previous record of 13.69 meters that
King-Shakim Rose threw at the Messiah Invitational earlier this year. Rose had a season best mark of 13.96 meters (45'9.75") on his first throw to finish fourth and score five points. The freshman fouled on his third and sixth attempts while recording marks of 13.19 meters, 12.92 meters, and 13.36 meters.
Jackie Ni finished fifth to score four points with a career best mark of 13.53 meters (44'4.75") on his third toss. The sophomore's previous best mark was 12.70 meters (41'8") at the Holiday Invitational a few weeks ago. He fouled on four of his attempts and hit 13.39 meters on his first throw. Lebanon Valley junior Trent Donlan won with a mark of 15.06 meters (49'5") on his third attempt. DeSales freshman Matthew Murray was third with a mark of 14.01 meters (45'11.75") on his sixth toss.
King's will have a couple of student-athletes competing at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier on Monday May13.
